Corinthian - that is a great strategy, and one that the old-timers here (including me) advise. The two-day Explore is also a great introduction to USC!

@cookie16 I’m in the exact same situation, USC is my dream school, they say not to have one but in my case there is literally no other school that fits the same bill.

I was searching twitter to see if anyone had tweeted about getting a packet yet and I found nothing there but I did find this week from the annenberg alumni " Last year @USC had 47,000 applicants. This year? Over 50,000. We admit 2,700. - Pres Nikias #usc #admissions." eeeek 50,000 applications.–note of caution the 2700 figure must be for annenberg class sizes of enrolled are like 4000 and total admitted is like 10,000.

I keep checking my portal ever 15 min or so but it is fruitless its time to do something else.

2,700 to 3,000 is the number of freshman applicants/u who accept the offer of admission and enroll (yield). Over the last several years, approximately 8,000 to 9,000 freshman applicants have been admitted and approximately 33% choose to enroll.

I’m literlaly freaking out right now. This is what my portal says: The committee has acted on your application, and we have mailed notice of the decision. If for some reason you do not receive our written notice, we will be happy to provide the results of this online through USConnect March 29th at noon Pacific Time.
Any1 else think this is good?

Yes, I think that is good. Potentially very good.

In years past, has the portal status changing at this point meant an automatic interview?

There were some who received that status in January and Early February who were not invited to interview and were awarded a 1/4 tuition Dean’s scholarship (please note that it is also possible to be invited to interview and receive a Dean’s scholarship or even a Director’s of $4,000/year, so being notified of a Dean’s is GOOD news!). The others received invitations to interview.

Please do not make announcements as it is always possible that procedures have changed, but in the past it has been a good sign.

But wait I thought the quartered tuition scholarships were yet to be notified

Were there any who didn’t get that status who were invited to interview? My portal hasn’t changed since November.

Some now, some later.

Corinthian, that is exactly what happened with my son, although he didn’t get bumped up to Trustee. We went to Explore, he was given the Presidential and was also a NMF. He ended up getting a $2500/year additional scholarship from Viterbi. I suspect it was because he was NMF and a Presidential Scholar. The bonus for me was knowing in January that he was in!

@actstudent, alamemom
This is the same message when I check the status . This sounds like we will find out in March and not any sooner. Why do you say this is potentially good? Is this the same message that all the others who are getting potential scholarships say?

Every year USC changes something up in their online notifications. I would remain cautious about this new update. We have seen this same message sent at the end of March in past years to all applicants who have been admitted. However, at this early date, one can hope it means a “yes” decision is in the mail, but it might also mean a glitch in the system (we have seen these in the past as well). It may even be a message posted to all applicants who applied before Dec 1, meaning either the acceptance packet or the “no scholarship but we’re still considering your app” letter was sent. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for all our CC applicants, of course. But stay frosty!

IF they don’t send rejection letters now, isn’t this only a sign of good news to come soon?

I saw the other thread on this message “The committee has acted…” showing to be a promising app status update. I am quite excited to see what will come in the mail in the next few dates now. Did shutter (the CC member) who got his acceptance letter also show this message on his app status?

They don’t send rejections, but they send letters that says “we are still considering you for admission, but not for a merit scholarship,” or something of that sort.
