Does anyone know the timing of when students are notified about whether or not they made finalist status? Does the notification go through the school again?

Yes, the notification goes to the school in February.

However, you’ll actually know that you made it in January.

Rejection letters go out in the beginning of January. So, if you don’t get a rejection letter by about the 15th, you’ll know that you made it.

also…as long as you don’t have any “issue” (like bad grades, too low SAT, discipline problems at school), you’ll make it.

Anyone who gets a rejection letter, can appeal.

Does this mean that the rest of the app isn’t really a big deal as long as the SAT score matched, the GPA was fine, and there were no disciplinary problems at school, mom2collegekids?

I should have also included that the paperwork was filled out correctly and the essay is ok (not rude or poor quality). I was guessing that someone who is wondering if they made NMF would have filled out the paperwork in a decent fashion.

Students don’t get rejected because they didn’t have enough ECs or school awards or anything like that.

What some don’t seem to understand is that NMCorp isn’t trying to reject a bunch of kids…they aren’t looking for some minor reason to reject a kid. Kids get rejected for their own faults…Poor grades, too low of an SAT score, rude essays, discipline problems at school, refusal to turn in the paperwork, etc.

Do they have something like a mid-year report? I would say that my biggest weakness is that I got my first B first semester of senior year, but prior to that, I had a 4.0 UW. (now it’s a 3.95.)

minoafrau,

Feb 1 Schools notified
Feb 8 Students notified at home address

Potterpie, don’t worry about the B. NMF does not require a 4.0.

I would add to M2CK that the application seems to be a verification not anything that is trying to find fault.
