Notify finaid if there's a positive change in financial situation

So here's my story.... my mom and dad have both been out of work for the past year, and Caltech gave me a full-ride in need-based grants, which was awesome. But my dad seems pretty likely to get a pretty well-paying job (90Kish) after a job interview last week. If he gets the job, must I inform Caltech about the finaid change or can I wait until next year 's FAFSA to do so? That'd be really bad for me if my grant was reduced because that's the biggest reason I cam here....

Well isn't the financial aid based on last year's financial situation? If so, then any job he gets in the future can only affect next year's financial aid.

I believe Financial Aid is a snapshot in time, thus you are not required to bring it up. They will get to you next year.

If you need to make this right in your mind - You parents have been out of work for a while. It is great your dad now has a good job, but chances are they have gone through savings and/or run up some debt. They may have also deferred certain expenses. Without knowing your parents financial situation, I can see how college expense would be a real hardship for them at this time.
