@bachbend I love that take a risk prompt idea! If I had done that, I probably would have written a love letter to Chick-fil-a. In fact, chicken is a subject of one my haikus
also- only a little over 2 weeks until we find out! itâs almost here!
More specificly, 17 days 19 hours and 52 minutes!
I think youâre fine. No reason to brutally attack. Itâs all in the admissions committees hands now.
@ND2023 your stats sound very familiar. Have you posted these under another user name in the past?
Those sound like great essay topics. I would say you are in the hunt, although your SAT score (1440 or 1460?) is a bit on the low end for the REA round.
@RFM1617 are you a student at ND? You seem to be so full of positive advice and perspective on other people scores or chances.
@HM0527 not yet, but I hope to be. I am a senior and attended the NDLS in July. My high school sends a lot of kids to ND each year and their local rep comes to our school to talk every year. I donât know if my thoughts are right. I am nervous about my own chances too because you just never know with the admissions process. But I have older siblings who both ended up loving their schools even though they did not get into their top choices and that gives me peace of mind.
Students arenât being rejected yet, though, right?
@Tea4Two absolutely not!
Question to all the seniors that appliedâŠhow did yâall express everything you have done with ECâs?? They only allowed a certain amount of characters and D found it difficult to express what role she played.
My D provided more in-depth information about her leadership involvement for two of her community service projects in the Additional Information section. She and her GC felt it was important to highlight the impact of each and it wasnât possible in the limited characters allowed in the Activities section. Hope that helps!
@riverboat thank you! D put in the additional info section awards that she would be receiving. Hopefully she was able to convey her leadership and desires with the limited amount they allowed in the EC section.
@riverboat What additional information section? I mean I know its too late now, but was that in the Common App? I must have missed it if it was there, but what I did was highlight my most impactful ones (my church service and involvement in DECA) in the common app essays and supplements
@sj2019 Iâm not exactly sure where on the Common App the Additional Info section is located but it is somewhere near the end. My D wrote some bullet points for each of the two projects there. Embedding your DECA and church service into the essays is also a good idea!
Did any of your kids happen to tune into the live study abroad session? I think it was last week?
@HM0527, I asked my daughter about this. She was unable to see the live broadcast, but she has been checking because it was supposed to be available online within 48 hours. She seems to know a lot already about the study abroad program. She said there is a program for engineering majors in Heidelberg, Germany.
@katrina1 Study abroad programs Notre Dame, College of Engineering:
https://engineering.nd.edu/academics/studyabroad
Given the high number of academic credits engineering students need to take, it is important that study abroad programs are fully aligned with required ND engineering courses.
@hpcsa, Thanks for the link! I wonder where she got the idea that Notre Dame offered a study abroad program for engineers in Heidelberg. At this point, I think it is best to minimize discussion about Notre Dame. Sheâll certainly have a more enjoyable second semester of senior year if she is accepted next month!
@katrina1 Yes, I very much remember the stressful time for our daughter when she applied for ND Engineering admission and it is certainly best right now not to focus too much on college admission related topics, whenever possible. All of the Notre Dame specific matters, including study abroad etc. can wait. All success to your daughter!
