Notre Dame Honors or Haverford?

There's nothing I can say that will be of much help, as I don't know what I want to major in or what I want to become. I'm definitely not getting financial aid from Haverford, and I'm pretty sure I'm not getting any from Notre Dame, either. I live too far away to visit either campus, though I know I'd much rather be in Pennsylvania. I honestly think that I'd like Haverford better, with its liberal artiness and all, but Notre Dame would be better for me in the long run. And I'd hate the deal with conversations like this for the rest of my life:

"I went to Haverford."

"HARVARD?!?!?!"

"...Haverford."

"...Oh. What's that?"

It sounds like you would rather go to Haverford, so you should go there. The only people that dont know Haverford are the general public, and they wont be hiring you. The people that do the hiring know Haverford is a top school.

I agree. You said it yourself; you would like it better there. I wouldn't worry about better later on in this case; it is something that is good to consider but if one school fits you better then it fits you better. I think you can be successful from either school so I would go where you think you will be happiest. Best of luck to you!

I think the two are comparable academically. The HP would give you a similar classroom environment to what you would most likely experience at Haverford. Notre Dame definitely has an edge in prestige, but Haverford would give you the "liberal artiness" you crave. The two schools have very different reputations in terms of the campus culture. Just pick whichever school fits you best.

What is the above mentioned difference in campus culture?

and how worth it is ND Honors? I mean it looks like the requirements definitely do kick the students' ass.... is it competitive to get in? Competitive to stay alive?

Campus culture: Notre Dame is a lot larger than Haverford. It is also more conservative politically and more sports-focused. Also, there is the Catholic issue to consider. The fact that ND is in the midwest will mean you will encounter more midwestern students, whereas, at Haverford, they will be mostly fromt eh East Coast- although both schools are fairly geographically diverse.

As for ND Honors, I would like to know the answer to that question as well.

If he doesn't stop by I will give it a shot but I will bump for Nemo as he is the ND honors guy.

Don't worry about the name. I've already had people think I was going to college in Kenya when I told them I'm going to Kenyon. Beat that.

How about going to Stamford? That could be bad...

I would hate that. Then again, remember that there is Notre Dame de Namur in California and another Notre Dame in MD...

Hehe, and Notre Dame in Paris as well. I had one friend who assumed that the University was affiliated with the church and thought I was going to be going to school in France...

Nope, but Northern Indiana is close to France :)...well, maybe not

French Lick, IN

sounds like a place I hope I never go.... why would you name your city that?

because larry bird is a pimp
