Notre Dame or UGA Honors?

ND is expensive, but doable. UGA is so much less, we can just write the checks. DS wants to go on to med school, but if he gets in plans to ask military to pay for that. ND is his dream school, and yes, we are Catholic and that is an important part of it for him and for us. Welcome your thoughts...

What's the difference in costs?

U.Ga. is a very boozy, party-intensive, good ole boy kind of place. The Honors crowd should be a step up, but still don't expect a campus culture anywhere near ND's. I would think that in this case, you'd get what you pay for - that's worth a lot (financially) to me, but it may not be everyone's priority.

FLVADAD--UGA COA is 16,000. ND COA is 50,000. Net costs per year after aid: UGA 9400, ND 25,000. Expected debt at ND: 50-60,000 (Whoa!)

gadad- Have you got kids at UGA? I know there is truth in what you say, but I read ND ain't exactly dry, either! But they don't have fraternities at ND to add to the party scene.

gadad - I would say an ND education is worth the cost, but a UGA honors education is too (and it's cheaper). Go with the Honors.

50-60K in Georgia is a pretty good downpayment on a house. How bout them Dawgs?

ND is not worth 50K more than Georgia honors. Harvard yes, Notre Dame no. And seriously you could buy him a condo in GA and rent it out after he graduates with the extra 60K.
