I have a 28 ACT, does that completely knock me out from the running if I excel in all other aspects including GPA, very strong essay and supplements, extracurricular, minority, recommendations, and demonstrated interest?
I’ve been following this thread since before last Wednesday and I’m pretty sure I didnt post my stats, but they’re listed below. I don’t think I’ll get in simply because my scores are way too low but I wrote (in my and teachers’ opinions) really strong essays that really talk about who I am as a person, so I’m hoping that maybe I have a chance. I’m just not going to get my hopes up. Good luck to everyone! Only about 3 hours left!!

Haha I’m one, I have a 32, but lots of national awards for mock trial and moot court as well as wcademic rigor and ecs, but test scores have me worried (and I’m a urm) @VegasRoller
I don’t know how much they consider recommendations, but I got a recommendation from Bishop Kevin Rhodes, the Bishop of Fort Wayne. He is heavily tied with ND. We’ll see.
Although a 28 is definitely low and your chances are very very slim because of that, from e perimces with my friends and depending on your story and information there could be something almost miraculous. Best of luck and to you!!! @ggirl2288
Also I forgot to mention that I’m going to major in English or Political Science
I have no ‘insider information’, but I keep reading that colleges look at this holistically, not just tests. Hopefully that is true and you will get in. If not, your resume is impressive and will get you into many VERY GOOD colleges. My daughter (HS sophomore) has great grades and in many honors courses but just can’t take a good ‘bubble test’ (ACT/SAT) to save her life. But she has everything she needs to succeed in life. I can tell you as adult, after you get your first job your college matters less than your performance/experience at your previous job matters more. I’m not saying ND or other ‘Top 20’ schools aren’t worth reaching for. But for those that don’t make it in, your life success if very much in your control and you can succeed in college/career through other paths. Good luck to everyone, wherever they go!
thank you!!! @User1555 I have been looking on past threads and have seen at least 5 people with 28s and lower get in! Hopefully that will happen to me! Standardized testing is just not my strong suit. I spoke to the representative about it and she was very understanding and assured me in their holistic reviewing system
Nice to see some realistic ACT/SAT scores on here like my son’s. He didn’t quite make the cut and is hanging out at the low end of the spectrum.
@vegasroller I have the highest scores of all of my friends at school (and all of my friends are very, very smart- I’m not just being kind when I say this). My scores are low for ND and some of the other schools I applied to (Vanderbilt Univ) but I am hoping that my ECs, essays, and grades/gpa also factor into the decision! Good luck to your son!
Luke…ND says they welcome an additional recommendation if it something unique that the other two guidance/teacher recs can’t provide. They used to allow endless recommendations until an applicant submitted about 80 of them…and didn’t get in. My son also had an additional recommendation. Good luck to you!
@shanneken good luck to you too. Son has good backup plans in place but ND is the one he loses sleep over.
are you completely sure nd answers back today???
Listen up guys: I understand it is a holistic approach. But when push comes to shove, they, and really any college, will accept someone with higher GPA and SAT than someone with say a 32, and great essays. SAT and GPA determine prestige and rank, there are no tangible numbers they can boost their university with taking kids with great essays. If you have great essays and a 28 ACT you have lower chances than a 33-35 ACT with eh essays.
100% agree, some days I feel like wow my scores are low and I think in such a high competitive environment we tend to overlook our own great achievements although I’ve been discouraged by people a 32 or even a 29 is by no means a low scores Eveyrone with higher like a 34, you guys are absolutely amazing but I think whatever happends we have to look at all of our wonderful achievements @VegasRoller
Anyone log into confirm.nd.edu recently?
Any news or updates on there? There were by this time last year on the release day.
I just checked and it looks the exact same.
@northwesty, I got the same page as I did the first time I checked a few days ago. “Sorry, we cannot find that Student ID and Birth Date combination, please check your entry and try again.”
do you get a notification email at 6:42? how does it wokr
Confirm.nd.edu or enrollment.nd.edu? Confirm looks like it’s for already admitted students only? No new info on the portal.
