Which should I go to?
Rutgers: free ride, honors college, 6 yr pharmacy program (high possibilty i will switch to SEBS as a bio pre med major)
Notre Dame: 50k/yr, bio pre-med (high poss. switch into finance or something in business)
For pre-med, which is the better option if I want to evenutally get into an Ivy med school? Same for business?
Should I take into account money?
Are the type of people I meet at Notre Dame more motivated than if I went to Rutgers my state school?
Alumni networking?
Congrats on a great offer from Rutgers. Are you going Sat to open house? Of course ND is ranked higher, alumni likely stronger, smaller school but $200k is a big difference. Rutgers is in the final two for my sons.
I would go with Rutgers. Notre Dame is not worth $200k over Rutgers, especially it is the Honor’s Program at Rutgers.
Save your $200K for Med school or MBA if you change to that route.
Yes I am!! Hopefully that helps my decisions!! @3sonsmom
Save the 200k for grad school or a house. Sciences at Rutgers are probably more robust than those at ND anyway.
I would go to Rutgers, and I say that with first hand experience with both Notre Dame and Rutgers. Realistically, ND is a better school with a better alumni network, and I believe would provide a bigger boost if applying to ivy schools post-grad. That being said, Rutgers is also a good school and if you plan to go on to med school or biz school, then $200k is a lot of money that you could save to put toward that goal and lower your lifetime debt burden. That can’t be underestimated. Also the programs at honors colleges are usually very impressive in terms of the personal attention you will receive and will make the Rutgers environment more of a “small school” experience for you, even though it’s a larger school. Also, with ND, if you did not get accepted into Mendoza (their undergrad business school) now, you would have to apply for transfer into the school sophomore year. So switching from bio into a business major is not necessarily a given at ND should your interests change. Lastly, for costs, you have to figure in the extra expense of flights if you plan to come home for breaks (fall, thanksgiving, winter, spring). Plus the expense of driving out there twice a year to move in/out (gas, meals, hotels, etc). So that’s probably @ an additional $2,000-2500 a year (@ extra $8-10,000 in the end).
Here, read this
Lexus: Free + the cost of maintenance.
Lamborgini: $250k plus interest, but I might trade it in for a Ferrari. I don’t have income now, but I will eventually and I know I’ll be able to make the payments at some point.
For a 15 minute drive to work everyday, which is the better option if I want to eventually drive 45 minutes to work? Same for a Ferrari?
Should I take into account money?
Are Lamborgini owners cooler than Lexus Owners?
Do they also drive 45 minutes to work?
