I have several questions:
11(Maybe). The scientist are still trying to do sth but speculating that… The line is under speculating.
Should the “speculating” be changed to speculate
Passage is about the plane and one called Yue…
21. Ever since Freud discovered, psychologists have been in search for…
Is “in search for” correct? I think it should be "in searh of
31to 4000 feet—nearly 3 miles— and set a new record
I choose “Leave as it is.”
32. Should “its” be changed to “this”?

@blue2152001 I agree with you on those two. But I wasn’t sure about “that” (A) being the error, but I went with it anyway. The NE I got was about Burton, the most eccentric person I know, journeying 500 miles simply to sample Chicago pizza.

Yes. See my post on cr thread.

I didn’t have a sentence about that scientist, but if the sentence was really like that, the conjugation of speculate would have to match trying. So possible changes are “are still trying to ____ but are speculating” or “are still trying to do _____ but speculate.”
I agree on the “in search of.”

Also, on the question that was like “though companies could increase efficiency by allowing people to work at home, ____ are reluctant trusting people that are not closely supervised,” would “reluctant trusting” be wrong?

^ for the freud one i think i put no error.

So for the essay portion, I only used one example, Mother Teresa, but I cited a lot of dates and statistics. I wrote about 1 and 1/2 pages. Do you think I’ll be fine? (5 or 6 each grader)

I talked about philanthropy and how it shows altruism and collaboration to help others.

Did anyone get the essay prompt about how imagination is less valuable that facts/objectivity?

I thought that was fairly simple. What kinds of examples did you guys put?

Do you guys think it is okay to use a personal experience as an example?

Yeah if you read the directions, they encourage you to do so.

‘reluctant to trust’ is correct not reluctant trusting :(

FallenX: I had that prompt, it was easy. I wrote about Hard Times (perfect fit), Santa Claus, and religion to show the merits of imagination.

For the essay about doing things for yourself or others, I used John Locke’s social contract and views on human nature, then contrasted with Thomas Hobbes’s Leviathan and views on human nature where they conflicted with Locke, and Friedrich Nietzsche’s Thus Spoke Zarathustra. Then I talked about society, altruism, and ended with a Chris McCandless quote.

@BillyMc, you’ll get a 12.

Nah, I only wrote a page and a half. I got a 9 last time, so I’d like a 10+, but I’m not really concerned with getting my writing up anyway (just math, haha).

Were there many no errors in the writing MC today?
I put like 5 n/e.
which seems more than usual.

wow, i dont even cite novels, i just use non-personal random examples. for this one i talked about a soccer team and an army/navy hahaha, i usually get 10’s

I didn’t have many no errors, but I didn’t have writing experimental, and there were two totally different forms, so that doesn’t tell you much.

whew, thanks, jdawg. I said it was wrong, but those wrong ones that sound right always give me a mental trip.

And your essay sounds pretty solid, Billy. I wouldn’t be surprised if you got 10+. ^^

Haha, I accidentally wrote egotism instead of egoism, though. Ah well, maybe they won’t notice. In the context, either would work, I suppose, but egoism informs my point better.
