November 2010 SAT - Writing

I am sorry but you guys are wrong. I think at most there are two no errors. I know there is a no error about a man who traveled to get pizza and possibly an error on the “That” question. I only got one no error.

I had writing experimental - planes passage but my other one had nothing to do with Egypt.

Was the “began drawing” question on the planes section? I got it wrong, hoping that was on exp :/

I don’t remember the number of no errors I got, but on the last 10-minute writing section I originally had D for the first four answers. I went back and changed one (maybe two) because it didn’t look right. :P

@blue: 1 no error is way too low. The pizza question was definitely a no error. Let me see if I can remember which other ones I put down NE for.

I am telling you there are four NE’s. That’s not alot at all. It sounds reasonable.

“That the…hinted at” is perfectly fine. NE
The journey is NE.
the first problem on the page with the last four problems on the identifying errr section was NE. And the problem immediately before that.

so did people have the chinese fong yue guy who built planes for their paragraph improvement???

i had that. but seems like no one else did.

It seems that plane building was NOT experimental unless I’m having total memory loss about egyptian pyramids, but I’m really just curious as to whether the “…began drawing” question was in that section.

I had the Chinese airplane guy one, too. I don’t remember any of the questions but I could probably compare with you if you reminded me.

for the ones who had the chinese airplane, how many NE did you get?

I got 1 :(

The toddlers question, was that also in the chinese airplane section?

@backfing: Yes, that’s exactly what I got, except I believe the 2nd to last NE you got had an error… I think it was B/C, had the word “it” in it.

^you’re talking about the fashion question right?
It was like “By inspiring…fashionss…” something like that rihgt?
That question was AFTER the last NE or before the 2nd to last NE because i know i put an error for that one.

Nono. It had something to do with an album or a song or something. The fashion one was wrong, the “it” should have been “them”.

^Oh i know. It was the “recording it” part that was underlined. That was fine. The referent was referring to the song. Why was “it” incorrect?

Are you positive? I thought it “recording it” sounded a bit awkward and should be changed to “its recording”. Do you remember the entire sentence?

^Even if “its recording” was better, it doesn’t justify the incorrect grammaticality of “recording it”

It waslike “Still a popular song after 50 years recording it, the song name is considered the best album of all time…”

recording it was incorrect because the context recording it was used in reffered to singer. It should be its recording.

Even though I didnt have this section, i think thats an error. Its saying that the SONG recorded it.

@backfling, “recording it” is wrong because there is no subject noun which performs the recording. The error was in C, “recording it” because it should be “its recording” which properly modifies the noun. Also, the last error correction sentence with the “that the research was completely funded by one company…” is an error with the “That” (A) because it creates an unnecessary prepositional phrase with the “that”.

EDIT: I think I also got only 1 NE (The pizza chicago one) throughout the Error Identification.
