This was my third and final time taking it, the first was a 2060 and the second was a 2170. Hopefully this time it’s 2200+
@ineedhelpyo First step is qualifying by taking the PSAT. Then, you have to get letters of rec, write an essay, and get an SAT score that “confirms” your PSAT score. The cutoff is usually 1960-1970, so that’s what I need to qualify as I’m already a semifinalist.
@renegade23 wow i did not know that… until now i believed they came out 5 am for us
Oh gotcha, well good luck! @peytonmg
No worries! And thanks! Hopefully I qualify @ineedhelpyo
Thanks for the clarification @Parislove98 I suppose I just get what I get. Luckily, I don’t need the SAT for admission since I’ve already gotten my ACT score. It’s just frustrating to take it for NM when I don’t have the opportunity to retake if absolutely necessary. That said, I guess it’s a similar situation to the original PSAT - one shot.
@peytonmg yeah ofc and good luck with college apps!
Thanks again! I’ve already sent in my applications to 4/8. The other four are just waiting on essays to be written, hopefully this week while I’m on break. Are you applying this cycle or are you a junior or soph?
@peytonmg Im a senior applying for fall 2016. I’m mostly applying to UCs so ill be 3/4 done next monday fingers crossed
@Parislove98 Well I’m sending good vibes your way! We’re applying to very different schools. I think it’s actually pretty cool to hear about people’s goals and choices. I’m partial to the northeast, so I’m applying to Brown, Columbia, Harvard, Georgetown, Northeastern, Virginia, and Vanderbilt.
I’m a junior first time taking. Crossing my fingers for a 2250 because I don’t want to retake it
Status just changed to “Available Soon”
@peytonmg I’m rooting for you man, I’ve been through the whole SAT thing already (I actually made last years November thread), what usually happens is after a few more pages on this thread due to the scores, things eventually settle down and we part ways.
It’d be really awesome if, at one point in the future(possibly March), we could revisit this thread and tell each other which colleges we’ve been accepted to and which we will be attending. What do you all think?
“Sorry, we are experiencing some delays due to high volume.” XD
@AGoodFloridian I appreciate it. And yes, I’m expecting that to happen. I’ve been on quite a few ACT threads where exactly that was the case. I don’t mind. It’s cool to get to know other people who are going (or have gone) through the same process. I will attempt to remember to come back and post how I fared, unless of course I get rejected everywhere, then I may not want to share that. But that’s a great idea.
@krauser126 Did they actually post that somewhere?
Well, ladies and gents, it has been a fun ride.
From confession to excuse, from weave to had woven and from whatever ambiguous strange math question was most recently being discussed to 2100, we battled through the SAT. I wish you all the best of luck in the next 5 hours.
Regardless of what happens, regardless of whether or not you meet your dream score, we should all be proud that we were able to dedicate our lives to something and work incredibly hard in order to better our future prospects. At the end of the day, I believe the SAT is more than a score (notably a faulty metric). I believe the SAT is useful in allowing high school students to truly test their levels of determination and how far they are willing to go to meet their goals. Good luck to all! B-)
Its on the front page of collegeboard for me when I click on Current SAT @peytonmg And @AGoodFloridian Im a junior so I can’t do that but we should still keep in touch I feel. Who knows, we might end up in the same classroom in some Ivy League.
Interesting - I just found this page, which discusses “waitlist status” which is apparently available for the December test if needed.
https://sat.collegeboard.org/register/waitlist-status
It may come to that if I need to test again for National Merit, but I shudder to think how much higher the price would be.
Edit: It’s $100.50.
I don’t think I ll be staying up tonight. I stayed up way too late last night and woke up at 3 in the afternoon today. Not fun, even less so now that it’s winter, three hours later it was already dark. My brains on “is dis da real life?” Mode right now.
I wish Collegeboard had a countdown timer on the scores, but then they’d probably get lawsuits for causing anxiety attacks. Does anyone know what time do the scores release for the West Coast? (:
