Well, I didn’t exactly fail the SAT, but in the Ivies’ eyes I probably did!! I’m planning to major in math, but my math score was worse than my reading. It was even worse than my PSAT in 10th grade!! I don’t get what happened. I got a 1450, a 730 on reading and a 720 on math. I did okay on my essay, got a solid 21. Princeton, my dream school, accepts 1540s on average. And colleges like Yale and Cornell want to see all of your scores, so they’ll see this too. Crap. I’m #1 in my class right now, and I know my competitor broke 1500.
Does anyone have any tips to improve my score?? How did everyone else react to their November scores?? A lot of people on here broke 1500, and I am super jealous!!
Just keep trying on the SAT or try to take the ACT. The colleges like Yale and Cornell will appreciate improving score trends. Just keep on working and your scores will go up. Good luck.
I have improved my score by about 80 points (from a 1430 to 1510) using Khan Academy every day. That practice makes perfect.
I know it’s hard advice to take (because I’m just like you - I obsess over stuff like this all the time) but you need to chill. A 1450 is an incredible score, and you shouldn’t be worried about what your competitor is doing. Just retake the test and you’ll be fine. (I took the SAT in junior year as a diagnostic and got a 1400, retook it and brought it up to 1530 combined with no additional prep.) Just give it another shot and don’t sweat it.
From personal experience the more you take the SAT, the higher your grade will be - usually. Your score is amazing! A 1450 is incredible, but I understand where you’re coming from. You’re not satisfied until you do the best you feel you can do - that’s very admirable. Just retake the next test date. Try practicing a little bit more of the math and you’ll be fine! Also, for Ivy Leagues a 1450 is a VERY respectful and competitive score. If you don’t end up improving that is a good score to have anyway. Good luck!
Just wanted to let people know (in case you happened to come across this thread) it’s been about a year and I can gladly say I got a 1530!! I studied really hard last school year. Never give up, and don’t get discouraged!! :x
