Bad journalism schools don’t teach reasoning and critical thinking skills, just as bad schools in most fields wouldn’t. I doubt many are prepared to argue that former graduate students in journalism Ron Suskind or Eileen McNamara lack those qualities.
yeah, but both of your examples first attended a college better known for liberal arts. McNamara attended Barnard and Suskind graduated from UVa’s college of liberal arts. It’s really easy to obtain a professional MA after you already have great thinking skills.
Egads! Another (fake) death threat, another (real) arrest.
@gator88NE any comments on the mass shootings in California. It was a hospital for the disabled this time not a college. It wont be long before they are attacking a school like UChicago.
It was not a hospital.
Re Post 62:
This is like the second one of these in the last month. This is strange, is it not? Why do black activists find the need to lie and make stuff up? Not enough racism exists for them already? According to them the world is rife with it, so why the need to make crap up? Lost…lost…lost…
Don’t really know any details, yet, about the shooters. However, it likely isn’t “college” related, so any comments I may have would need to go in the Parent Café forum and not here.
It is. But I agree, the fabrication was over the top and stupid.
It’s becoming a norm. So many threats that schools have to go through. For example, my school went on lockdown at night after some neighborhood shooting suspects were on the loose (non terrorism). Funny thing is that they didn’t find the suspect so the day resume back to normal after it was confirmed that there was no longer a threat near the school.
Literally, there was a helicopter, which I could see on dorm and I’m at top floor in my residence hall, shining the light all over. Crazy but yea.
At first these threats were mostly common in public places, but nowadays school campuses are becoming a target.
There was an online shooting threat to CMC protesters a couple of weeks ago. The administration was notified, and they sat on it and did not notify students or the police! They only reluctantly went to the police and notified students at the 5Cs when a protester pressured them to – the police can subpoena to find out who posted it. But what administration sits on their hands these days when a shooting threat comes in instead of reporting it??
