NROTC Scholarship

I received an offer for a 4-year ROTC scholarship. What is my commitment, if after one year, I dislike it and would like to quit. Do I owe money or do I owe time in the Navy? I really want to do it but my parents have some concerns as there is not a lot of military experience in our family.

You want a definite answer to this question, and the way to get it is not from anonymous posters on an internet forum. Talk to the recruiter or whatever military contact you have been working with through the application process.

Okay thanks. My parents just believe that the recruiters are deceiving and will say anything to get me to sign on, which is why I thought people on CC would have insight.

There should be a contract or agreement. Read it. Carefully. All enforceable obligations and responsibilities will be spelled out for you.

Edited to add:

Found this with a quick Google search:

This may or may not be the same contract that applies to you. You need to find out. In any event, it will give you an idea of what the contract requires.
