This is for parents of applicants - especially those applicants from previous years who got accepted to the program. I need to write a parent statement, and there are 9 things I need to mention. In 400 words. How did you do it? I would like to give an example for at least some of the topics, but I can’t do it in 400 words. Are examples needed? Do they just want simple answers? One topic is amount of independence given to applicant - I want to say something about increasing amounts of independence with age, and give some examples. Should I just say something like “… is given independence appropriate to age”?

I sent you a pm.

Hi there! I know this post is ancient, but I just finished writing my application essays for the NSLI-Y Summer Chinese program. I’m here to ask if anyone could take a look at them for me? See if there’s anything I should change? I’m really nervous about submitting an application that isn’t perfect, and I’d really appreciate any help whatsoever.

Anyone want to continue this thread with me?

Haha @Schnuff3 are you working on your application too? what programs are you going for?

Oooh I’ll continue. My choices are Turkish year, Turkish summer, and Arabic year.
