NU vs BC

I know that Northeastern University is closely on par with neighboring Boston University. Each have their strengths and weaknesses but basically even out, as Northeastern is on the rise.

However, how does Northeastern compare with Boston College? Boston College seems to be more selective and higher ranked, but that could be due to it's smaller enrollment (taking only the highest qualified students) and such.

I know multiple people who’ve been accepted to BC and waitlisted at Northeastern. Just sayin’ :)

Northeastern’s rise in the past 10 years is similar to Boston College’s rise 20 years earlier. BC was a mostly local commuter school populated with graduates of Boston area Catholic high schools. Like Northeastern, BC knew that a private university has to offer more than a state school. They upgraded facilities and programs and selectivity of course.

BC remains of course a Catholic, Jesuit school. That is a major aspect of the school and defines its culture, even for non-Catholic students. In a parallel way, Coop and other forms of Experiential Learning define Northeastern and its campus culture.

Both are great schools each with their own strengths. BC has a heavier focus on humanities than Northeastern while NU has a broader range of professional programs. You need to determine which environment is your match.
