plzz evaluate my chances of getting into these univ.and iam in dilemma over selecting major.iam interested in both the disciplines (nuke and PE)
need ur suggestion urgently plzzz help me !!!!!!

First of all it would be rather easy for us to read if you would put them in a proper way.

Back to topic, I would suggest petroleum engineer if you don’t mind leaving your family to go offshore for a long time. And nuclear engineering if you don’t mind the radiation ( yes you will absorb some of them daily ) Nuclear engineering can get you with the national defense contract ( building weapons and the sorts ) and it will really earn you money.

That’s all I know about these stuff, am quite interested to look at the input from the other forumers

i thank u very much gabuchia and blem for ur reply. i heard petroleum engg also earns more.so i have a qq which is best carrer .petroleum enng or nuclear enng.iam interested in both of them and i wont mind leaving my family.yes i heard a&m is top for petroleum eng but what about my chances in those universities i mentioned above.do petroleum engineering have high competition ?
i really appreciate u for the replies ur giving to me
thank you

It all comes down to what you want to do. our economy is going to chance drastically over the next few years. And as we’ve learned from our wonderful economic crisis, NOTHINGS CERTAIN!!

My advice: explore your talents and interests, and pick the one that compliments them. Really, if you go into engineering for the “compenstation,” I think you will be dissapointed. That’s why people go to Professional school.

carnelian thank u very much for your reply.iam interested in petroleum engineering the most.but iam feared about my carrer as a petroleum engg because oil is coming to its last stages and now world is in the search of new energy sources.so i want seniors guidance .need your help urgently since iam going to apply on dec 1st week

today i consulted my professor he said in petroleum eng enrollment is low and job are very low.so i have less scopre to get job and he said in coming areas nucler engg would be a boom so its better if i try it. is he true?

well, i also did some research into nuclear eng, and you’re half way right about that, there’s not that many nuclear engineers in the world. that’s why so few schools have the major (the only one in CA is UC Berkeley). so nuclear engineers are always in demand, and even more so with the oil crisis. nuclear energy is always a possibility and most countries are developing their nuclear power systems and you could get a job in the navy as a nuclear engineer and they pay you for it ( i believe). This requires you fly to the east coast. its one of the highest paying engineering jobs if you manage to get a position

Someone doesn’t get rich by doing what is in demand today. Someone gets rich by doing what will be in demand tomorrow. And that’s most assuredly Nuclear Engineering.

now i applied al the above universities for petroleum engineering… so do i have a chance top change my major to nuclear engineering now ??? plzz help
