Number of AP Courses

Is taking 8-10 AP courses good enough to get into the Ivy Leagues, Duke, and Stanford?

Try to take as many as your school permits. A.K.A the most rigorous courseload.

Yes, as long as they are strong ones and you have also taken plenty of intensified/honors classes as well. All AP’s are not created equal (ie geography/world history vs calculus b/c or physics c).

Is AP Physics C, in your opinion, very hard?

Don’t go by number because the number of APs available changes from school to school. Take as many APs as you can possibly fit in your schedule all years. Make sure your Senior course load is as rigorous if not more rigorous than your junior courses.

My school only offers about 8 APs (varies year to year), so it really depends on my school. As long as your guidance counselor says you are taking the most rigorous schedule possible, you are good to go for any college.

Thanks for the advice!!!

Bump!!!

take AP classes that you are interested in/know you will do well, and honestly 5-7
is a lot. students at my school usually are in that range for number of ap classes and do well with college admissions(duke, and several ivys)

Bump!!!

Quality > Quantity. Take the ones that you are interested in and the most challenging workload that your HS offers. Yes, taking AP classes helps, however; it is not the be all, end all to college admissions.

It depends on your high school, especially. If they offer 20 AP classes, you should see what the successful seniors at your HS have taken and plan accordingly. However, don’t take AP Human Geo or AP Psych if you have no interest in those subjects. Take good, challenging classes that you’re interested in. (i.e. artist → AP Studio Art…Physicist-> BC Calc and Physics C).

Take enough so that you can have a decent social life, pursue a few good ECs and maintain high grades.

If you overload on APs, you will lose out on one of those three things.

Good luck!

Bump…

You should pick the AP courses that you are interested in. Not all colleges accept college credit, or only give credit for a 5 lol. I would really take it slow and overwhelm yourself.

Bump…

Why are you BUMPING? You got 4 amazing responses already…

I just wanted different input, and I got it…
