Is there any harm in taking only one AP? Do colleges look down on the practice? I am an international student, and my school does not offer AP courses. I am thinking of taking only one AP exam because I do not think I will be able to study for more in the little time that remains.
If you think you will only have time for one, only do one. It won’t do any good to pay to take another AP exam if you don’t know the content well enough to get a good score. Colleges won’t look down on this either. Generally, taking AP classes doesn’t affect a college’s decision on whether or not you are accepted; the classes only help you in college because they let you earn college credit hours.
Unless you are a senior, try studying for next year. Being an int student is no excuse for not taking AP.
Not per se. However, if you are an international student (or a domestic student for that matter) and your school does not offer AP’s, colleges will have no expectation that you should take AP exams. Your application will be evaluated in the context of what your school offers. Now, if you want to take AP exams to potentially earn college credit, that’s another story.
