number of clubs to join?

I'm a freshman at Berkeley, so I was wondering how many clubs do you recommend joining and being able to stay active in them as well as balancing classes? I have around 6 that I'm interested in, but I don't want to get overwhelmed. Three are academic, two are for entertainment, and one cultural group.

I’m regularly involved in two clubs (1 service, 1 entertainment). I tend not to gravitate toward social/ cultural clubs for some reason, lol…

especially since you’re a freshman, you DON’T want to overwhelm yourself with too many activities. 6 is just too much, unless you’re not planning to put much of your time into any of them. also, meetings might clash a lot. if you want to be active in them and balance classes, 3 should be your max IMO

You’ll eventually be really involved in one or two, if that. The reason is twofold: you won’t have the time to be fully involved in more than that, and most people don’t need more social interactions than one or two social circles (outside of dorms, classes, etc.). However, I encourage you to try out as many clubs as you are interested in, and find out which ones you really want to dedicate yourself to.

Thank you for all the advice! my roommate scolded me, so I joined 3 clubs only: PBL, Kendo, and Berkeley Investment Club. Unfortunately, they all meet on Wednesday! xD
