<p>Ok heres my problem. I was awared a great aid package, but when i orginally filled out my CSS Profile i put that there were going to be 2 kids in college at the time. Well my sister just found out that she will be graduating college. I will be paying for college myself, so it truly doesn't matter if she is not going to be in college anyways. However, is my package going to be reduced alot. And is there anyway i could just explain to the college that I am paying on my own, just as my sister did, and that the aid package they gave me now is perfect? Please answer if you can! Thanks!</p>
<p>Yeah, it makes a difference. See, in the Profile formula, because you indicated two household members in college, the parental contribution to the EFC was reduced by 40%. So with just one in college, EFC will go up considerably, and your aid package would generally go down by a similar amount.</p>
<p>The right thing to do would be to contact the financial aid office at the college and explain the situation.</p>
