Not even sure if this is the right forum, but hopefully someone knowledgeable will see this.

A friend of mine's done political science for two years, realized it's not for her, and wishes she were a nurse. Problem is, she's got to graduate in four years for financial reasons, and there's no time to switch to our school's nursing program.

Do you need to be in Nursing as a pre-med to become a nurse?
Is it somewhat like med school, where you don't necessarily have to be a math/science major to join a Nursing graduate school? Is there even a Nursing graduate school?
What are her options?
Does anyone have any links to Nursing info?

Huge help, for anything, thanks. Means a lot.

There are some schools where you can jump right in, but most of the traditional nursing programs seems to require that you do pre-nursing, then apply into the program, then finish up as a nurse. So, your friend would either need to find a school that accepts bachelors holding students or to start over.

I have a few friends that graduated with a bachelors and then decided they wanted to do nursing. There are some schools that offer an accelerated BSN program for people who already hold a bachelors degree. However, you still have to meet the prereqs, which can seem relatively extensive, and usually involve philosophy or ethics, etc.

Thanks a ton guys, really appreciate it. Just good to know it’s even possible, and yeah, I briefly ran through Vanderbilt’s prereqs and there’s quite a few.

Icarus, how are your friends liking it? Payoff’s well worth it?
