NYC 529 and Health Insurance Fees?

<p>Can I use my daughter's 529 to pay for her student health insurance at school? </p>

<p>While the school does charge a mandatory fee to visit the on site clinic -- they also require students to carry regular insurance in case they need broader care that is not offered at the on site clinic. They have a plan through Aetna - which is optional - IF - the child has access to other healthcare. In our case -- our daughter does not have access to other healthcare so would be without it if we didn't pay for this extra policy.</p>

<p>Also – if i receive an invoice - which includes all tuition, housing, meals, insurance & fees, then deducts all aid and i pay the balance due with my child’s 529 – can I say that the 529 pays for tuition and the loans and/or aid pays for the insurance?</p>
