<p>Another outcome is that a student who goes to a school ONLY because he can afford it due to the STEM incentive program may have to leave if after the first or whatever year, S/he decides STEM is not the way to go, which is not so unlikely given the switch. </p>

<p>He has to reapply for the scholarship very year. If he decides after year one that he does not want to do stem, he is only on the hook for 1005 (as he would still receive TAP regardless of major).</p>
<p>Sometimes you have to bite the bullet to make something happen. I went to a service academy in part because I couldn’t afford college any other way. It worked out in the long run.</p>
