NYU Abu Dhabi question!!

Hey everyone,

I have been researching different aspects of the NYUAD admission process and was a little confused with their "candidates' weekend." So from what I understand, if you make the first cut, NYU will fly you out to the UAE to show you the campus. The part that confuses me though, is that this weekend does not guarantee admission. Out of curiosity, does anyone know the frequency of which people are invited to the candidates' weekend and not offered admission? To me it seems a little odd completely paying for a large group of people to travel across the globe and then end up rejecting them.

Thanks guys! :x

Bump, I’ve been researching and still havent really found anything. Any past, current, or prospective students that can help?

According to an article by The Gazelle, about 300 students get an invite to CW. The class size for freshmen in the past years have been about 150 (one half). So I’d guess about 2/3 of the invitees get admitted since some of those admitted choose not to attend.

I applied (and was accepted!) ED1 to NYUAD this year so can tell you a little about what I know. 118 of us went to the Candidate Weekend (which was the biggest one they’ve had so far) and they accepted like 83 of us based on the Class of 2019 Facebook group - so that’s like 70% of people? But they kept saying there’s not a quota and they could accept as many people as they liked especially as they’re planning on increasing the class size again this year - probably to 300-350ish.
