I was just wondering if anyone here, or anyone you know, was accepted to Clive Davis this year. I asked this in the NYU accepted Students thread, but not one person has responded. I know it has a low acceptance rate with an even lower yield due to cost, but I don’t know anyone other than my D who was accepted this year.
My daughter was accepted to Clive Davis, but they did not give her any aid - merit or otherwise. We simply can’t afford the $79,000 per year in room, board and tuition. Its an obscene amount of money for a music degree - even if they do cover music business. I know it would be a great four years - but to graduate with $100,000 in debt or more just seems so irresponsible
Thanks for the update. I couldn’t agree more. It’s absurd. When you are asking for over $320k over four years for a degree in pop music, you will never attract the best kids. Only the richest hobbyist musicians they can find.
Oh they get great kids alright. It is extraordinarily absurd price-wise. They had 800 ish kids apply with 50 in the program so they could subscribe many times over. But there are plenty of folks who can pay and do pay. Also, they make very good connections. We have a family member who recently graduated. The family didn’t need aid. But there were kids in the program on financial aid.
I’m sorry that your daughter was accepted and cannot afford to go. But that doesn’t make it a “hobbyist” school per the other poster. I hope you don’t pass that on to her as she will likely know how prestigious it is and this won’t make her feel better. The folks who graduate from Clive Davis go on and make great careers in a highly competitive industry. My family member got three offers on graduation and won multiple awards while an undergraduate (one had a large sum attached). This graduate is now working in the industry at an excellent salary.
