I’m struggling to chose between these two schools. I received significantly more financial aid from Bates College, but NYU seems like it’s worth the price of admission. However, I’m off put by my placement into LSP at NYU. I don’t know exactly what it means for my future at NYU, but I believe it prohibits me from starting my major before my junior year- which is worrisome. What should I do?
Bates is a wonderful school, with excellent programs and an inclusive, engaged community. Take the better financial aid at Bates and don’t look back.
Looking quickly at LSP at NYU, it seems to be a 2 year Associates degree program, with small classes taught by different faculty than the regular tenure-track NYU faculty. Students then apply for admission to other units within NYU, such as the College of Arts & Sciences, but apparently cannot apply to Stern from LSP, at least based on the article I read.
Bates seems like an easy decision unless you dislike something about Maine / rural settings or really want to be in NYC
