they replied they dont have the 2021 numbers yet.
Sees ranges for SAT scores and ACT scores heavy breathing Small voice in head goes “you’re in the range so you still have a chance” while other small voice goes “forget it” and you go back to your pessimistic mindset again
I heard something about how in previous years they tended to have a majority of rejections released n the morning before getting to most of the acceptances during the afternoon, is that true?
@azashadow I hope that’s true! That spares me the pain of waiting for a rejection. Haha!
@azashadow yup, in previous years decisions were released in waves where rejections were sent out first followed by acceptances. but idk how true this is going to be this year, as the email says specifically that decisions are being released literally throughout the entire day on the 30th
I got into the Liberal studies program ED II. (I applied 1st choice Gallatin, 2nd LSP --> I got to choose my campus) This is a timeline of my NYU pages before it came out. I don’t recall everything, but I had screenshots of alot because I was freaking out too! If you guys have any questions let me know how I can help! Also if I’m missing anything let me know!
Decisions came out on Feb 15:
2/13/17
- I had the Fall 2017 Undecided as my only housing option with the application currently closed.
- (I did not apply for financial aid btw) said award access not available with no year
- my housing classification was Non-renewable undergraduate
2/14/17
- I had the Fall 2017 Undecided option with the application currently closed as well as Summer 2017 with an access application link and choice of campus (I did not apply for anything over the summer)
2/15/17
- I had the Fall 2017 Undecided option
- financial aid award access not available (still no available year)
- housing classification still non-renewable undergraduate
Only when I got my decision did my housing classification change. (Also some people talked about their application status page under the campus applied section changing, but mine always said New York City)
When accepted the financial aid status changed to select aid year to view and showed 2018
they even confirmed on twitter that they mean literally the entire day. which kinda sucks because I can already see myself panicking and anxiously refreshing my email every 0.02 seconds like a crazy person
@freakingout2021 did your housing change from non-renewable undergraduate to freshman right before your were admitted?
I wonder if they’re doing the waves by region or timezone or just a random order…
@freakingout2021 thank you for sharing that. I’m still freaking out about having no FA change.
Literally can’t sleep from anxiousness… really hoping everyone here gets good news!!
@indiahyland no, it changed after my decision came out
@KelseyCarolyn33 I wouldn’t worry about it! I think they fixed the glitch this year, at least on the FA change because I didn’t see any true correlation between ED students and the change.
I will tell you though that I was one of the only people who I saw had the Fall undecided 2017 application and someone else who had it messaged me and we both got in.
My creative way of helping myself on Thursday: Marking NYU as spam email and never bothering to check what’s in it since I’ll never see it unless I remember because I have terrible memory
@freakingout2021 thanks! and thanks for all the info - that’s really helpful
I bought 5 tubs of ice cream for my rejection:)
Quick summary/recap of all this drama and freaking out about the change (please correct me if I’m wrong)
We are speculating that…
In FA page in Albert portal
-If you have the year (2018) with “award access not available”: Good sign
-If you don’t have the year but have the statement “award access not available”: Not so good sign
Housing Portal
-If you have Undergraduate something I don’t even know: Good sign
-If you have Summer 2017 Non renewable undergraduate: Not so good
But according to last year’s RD this speculations is valid and invalid at the same time. Because it seems that most people who did have these “Good signs” did get in. However, I see people here are there that actually didn’t hear good news from NYU even though they had these FA/housing changes.
Does everyone have two tabs at the top of their Albert portal? I have one that says “Students” and one that says “Applicants.” I also only have “Summer 2017” for housing and “No Award Access” (or whatever it says) for FA.
That moment when Target has a sale on ice cream on their Cartwheel app and in store and I combine them together so now I just prevented myself from going broke too early before college haha
@geminii that’s what i have. can you have the housing tab that leads you to the bursar also?
@geminii I have all that you have except for my financial aid, it shows “2018”
