@ellie1234 Hey yeah, I can also login into the NYU New York housing(and apply to it etc), and I don’t have academic 2020-2021/Fall 2020. Not sure what it means…
Hello everyone,
This is what is posted on the housing website: Access to Fall 2020 and Summer 2020 housing applications has been temporarily suspended until late on March 23rd in order to provide maximum system bandwidth for all Spring 2020 needs.
@ellie1234 I have the NYU New York option as well but only for the summer one now. I also don’t have academic year 2020-2021.
Last year they announced they would be released on the 28th. Will they make an announcement this year ahead of time we think? I also want to know where everyone is seeing the 2020-2021 thing, waitlist undergraduate, or the thing about March 25th? Maybe I’m missing something. I really don’t think these “glitches” mean anything but I’m just curious to where you’re all seeing these things?
FYI, NYU has a housing waitlist that is for returning undergraduates requesting housing, but who have not met the requirements to be guaranteed housing. That may be the “waitlist housing” you are seeing.
@CMH2024 that’s exactly what I have-- only in summer 2020. Also, I found the March 25th application on the NYU website on the Applying for Housing page with other general info, not like a specific application page. From what I can understand, people are seeing another option on https://housing.nyu.edu/apply that is academic year 2020-2021, and under that it says waitlist undergraduate. I don’t have that though, so I totally could be misunderstanding other people’s posts.
I also don’t think this means anything, even though it stresses me out lol. It is kinda fun to speculate and stuff, but in the end we won’t know anything until Wednesday or Thursday probably.
@tryingtothrive Did you see any changes on the housing portal?
@tryingtothrive congrats! I didn’t even know they did that!
Congrats!!!
@tryingtothrive Congrats! How did you find out so early? Is NYU just mailing out letters or something this year. Cause that seems very odd to me.
I was looking at the website just now, and I think the housing application might only be for continuing students.
How EXCITING!!! Congratulations to you! What is CAS?
@chitowngirl69 CAS is the College of Arts and Sciences.
Has anyone here actually tried completing the entire housing application, like sending in money and stuff?
@CookiesxCreme I am pretty sure I can. I just don’t want to go too far or pay anything just in case. I don’t need summer housing so I don’t want to apply for it but I have tried and can get pretty far into the application.
The thing that says March 25th is just for continuing students I think. Nothing to do with us.
Correction: “Living in NYU Summer Housing does not require enrollment at NYU, however, priority is given to applications from academic year NYU students and applicants registered for credit and non-credit summer courses at NYU.”

I’m hoping all of this housing stuff doesn’t mean anything. I got rejected/ waitlisted from all of the schools I really wanted to go to so I would love to get into NYU. Do you guys know if applying for history as a major is competitive?
@ellie1234
any safety school accepted? NYU History ranking is #33, pretty good!
my son applied for Economics, UCSD accepted, UCLA and BU waitlisted (mostly like UCB and NYU as well)
All the best to you!
I honestly don’t know anymore. I got flat out rejected from George Washington on Friday but on Saturday got into Boston University for 2021. My decisions have been all over the place.
