NYU Requires 32 Credits for Transfer?

Nowhere on the NYU Undergraduate Transfer Admissions does it mention anything about the number of credits needed for applying but I looked at Collegeboard.com to look for more specifics. I saw that NYU (based on Collegeboard.com) requires 32 credits for a transfer applicant. Doesn't 32 credits seem a bit high? Anyone know anything about this? How come there is no specific credit number requirement listed on NYU's own page?

You will have to check with the individual school you are applying to. 32 does seem a bit high, because if you take more than 32 credits a year at NYU you start paying extra…

Edit: wait, I brainfarted. You pay extra if you take more than 18 credits a semester. The standard 4-class schedule is usually 16 credits, so 32 is a standard year’s worth of credits.

I’m currently taking 14…15 is the norm here at UMich. Most freshmen aside from engineers hardly ever take 16 per term at first.

Your school probably does credit calculations differently. Most classes that meet twice a week (2.5 hours of lecture/week) are 4-credit. There are some classes that are 2-credit that are not very intensive. Some that I can think off my head are music business and a 2-credit statistics class for people who have 4s or 5s on AP stats (because 6 credits of stats is required at Stern). 6-credit classes mostly meet 3 times a week. If you are taking 4 regular classes a semester (for example, writing, math, science, and language) that would probably count as 16 credits.
