So, I was perusing the key from 06-07 and it looks like pretty much everyone has issues with O Chem. I'm coming in with AP credit for Chem 1+2, and had sort of intended on jumping straight into O Chem, but is that a bad idea? I've had a great teacher and great experience in Chem, but should I take it again to prep for Organic anyway? How much will taking chem again help?

I've been able to avoid chemistry but from what I've heard- If you are confidant that you did in fact learn then take the credit and go onto O-Chem. Chem is kind of a weed-out here and they make it pretty tricky/challenging. Even if you know it you could come out with a low grade. Sign up for the O-Chem- you should be able to put in the work and get it done. I know a few people who have gotten out with A's.

Also, if you don't think you're ready you can always drop it during the first week and even pick up chem 2 most likely as a refresher.

My major is going to be Chemistry, and I did not take AP Chem because my school only started offering it this year, so I had regular Chemistry. Should I be able to do just fine as long as I study?

hmmm......

Go do something productive with your life, like baking brownies....and stuff.

Everything isn't a joke, Neddy. Some of us really come here for advice, you know...

You just need to look harder.

Patel I'm assuming your talking about Chem 1. It's a tough class but its assumed you have little to no chemistry knowledge when you walk in. It's going to be all on your own work ethic.

Alright, thanks Space!

Would anyone recommend something I should do this summer to prepare for Chemistry? After all, that will most likely be my major, and I'm not willing to bake brownies. :)

Patel, I ended up writing you such a long winded reply that I made my own thread...go check it out :)

Thanks, jenmarie!
