I’m just starting back to school, this has me worried.

Just bringing this thread back to life to update with the news that the House bill H.R. 1passed (235-119) last week which would cut the base amount of Pell for 2011-12 by $845. Full text (in gobbledygook, of course) can be found here, at page 302:

Hopefully the Senate will restore some of that funding…it’s scary that they’re also eliminating so much from health education programs.

Here is a more readable summary:
[House Votes to Cut Higher-Education Spending, Delay ‘Gainful Employment’ Rule - Government - The Chronicle of Higher Education](http://chronicle.com/article/House-Votes-to-Cut/126456/)

It looks like the maximum Pell would be cut to $4015, plus the additional $690 that was added for 11/12 under the CCRA, so the total max would go from $5550 to $4705 if it survives the Senate unchanged.

So I guess this make things tougher for us 0 EFCers? I still got three more years of undergrad and I’m trying to minimize my loan debt as much as possible… but it’s a bit difficult when your family is not made of money. There’s a chance I may be commuting too, which, as inconvenient as it may be, would at least save me a lot of money.
