Oberlin College adjusts to challenging times in liberal arts education

In many cases, these issues at Oberlin College in Lorain County, while not unique to the institution, have made national headlines and helped color the narrative around liberal arts institutions and where they fit in today’s society. That reputation can be seen as a challenge but also as a benefit, said Carmen Twillie Ambar, who joined Oberlin as president in September after serving in the top role at Cedar Crest College in Pennsylvania. I have full faith in President Ambar to turn this around. Oberlin will manage and emerge even stronger.

I agree that President Ambar is the right person to lead Oberlin in this challenging time. My first year daughter has been having a great experience and we have seen a very supportive and responsive campus. The current/acting dean of students is amazing and really cares about the concerns of students. I think Oberlin is moving in the right direction and will continue to improve.
