Hi all,
I'm a high school senior already enrolled at Grinnell who just got off the wait-list at Oberlin. I have until Tuesday to decide if I want to go to Oberlin. I've visited both schools and have gotten good vibes from both/ connected with the students at both. I've also visited **************.com for comparisons and found that Oberlin has more attractive people and better food and that Grinnell has slightly better weather and would rather not base my decision on such minutiae :P
This decision influences the next 4 years of my life so I am eager to amass as much information as possible so that I can make an informed decision.
Thanks for your input!

Both great colleges, and you can’t go wrong. These were factors in my D’s decision:
- Oberlin is bigger–2800 vs 1600 students.
- Oberlin was easier to get to and from.
- Oberlin has the 3-1-3 curriculum so you have a January term.
- Oberlin has the Exco, a very extensive set of student run courses plus a large coop system which adds substantially to what the college can offer.
- Oberlin has the “Con” and an incredible music scene.

xxxxx.com is very dated with reference to Grinnell. It panned the food but that was long before the new student center was built: The food is now excellent -minutiae, as you point out, but it raises the question of overall reliability for both schools.

I suggest you run a search here on Oberlin vs. Grinnell and vice versa: This comparison has been made several times before. Both are great schools with a somewhat different vibe, different strengths, and each will appeal to different people. S visited both, liked both, and ended up at Grinnell. Best friend went to Oberlin. Both love their schools.

I don’t know about Iowa having better weather. I’ve been there. It’s about a draw, I’d say.

But you can’t go wrong either way. You’re talking about peer schools.
