Oberlin vs. Skidmore

What would be best for a student interested in scupture and a liberal arts education?

im not sure about the sculpture, but skidmore i think would offer a better liberal arts degree. I looked into Oberlin before and it didnt really interest me, especially since its in the middle of nowhere

I'd have to disagree; Oberlin boasts a fabulous art department with one of the best college museums around;Cleveland is very close, and has much to offer. For a well-rounded liberal arts experience, it would be an outstanding choice.

I think that any differences between an Oberlin and Skidmore liberal arts education would be fairly minimal. Both claim English Language and Literature as an exceedingly strong program, while still holding their own in other areas.

In terms of sculpture, however, I know that Skidmore calls its Fine Arts program one of its strongest in the college. (Oberlin does not do the same.)

Honestly, I think these two colleges are so remarkably similar that it would take a visit to both schools to really decide which you prefer. Have you had any conversations with people in the fine arts department at either school?

Look at Sarah Lawrence, Bennington, Vassar, Bard and Hampshire as well. Williams also has reknowned Art Dept. but very competitive admissions.
