I have to be in Oberstdorf next month and have never been; in fact, it’s been a long time since I’ve seen Europe. Have a valid travel visa. I need to book flights, accommodations, and figure out meals. Need all advice, especially good web sites for discount travel booking:
-good airline flights from the Northwest of the US
-transportation options into the town from Munich or Zurich
-affordable/comfortable accommodations or short-term rentals
-food options
-logistical questions: where to transfer USD to Euros, whom do I tip in town
-what to do during the muddy snowmelt season
Thanks in advance!

Where do you live in the Northwest? If you’re in Seattle, you could fly Delta to Amsterdam or London and then connect to Munich. If Obertsdorf has a train station you could take the train in from Munich. You could fly into Frankfurt and take the train to Obertsdorf.
As for the other stuff, I do know that Obertsdorf is known as a ski resort, so there should be a decent selection of hotels and restaurants. I’ve never been to Obertsdorf myself, but I think that’s where my parents stayed back in the 70’s when they chaperoned a university trip to Europe (my father was a professor and my mom worked in admin).
As for money, we usually just got some Euros from our local travel agency before we left (some banks have Euros too, check with your bank) and then we get the rest from ATMs.
