occupation

Hi all,

So for my dad's occupation, he put down that he was a president of a company. Will admissions officers assume that my demographic is wealthy? Because that couldn't be further from the truth, he just started it so he basically has no income (lots of complicated financial issues in the past). My mother has paid for everything related to my brother and I for the past couple of years on a $70k salary. My parents are also divorced, and I live with my mother while my father is estranged to me. Should this be mentioned in the additional information section of the common app? Thanks!

Your application for financial aid will include a great deal of detail about your family’s situation. There is no need for any financial details in the common app. Your father’s occupation is not an important factor in admissions and you should not provide additional detail about it in the additional information section.
