My D is planning to study OT in college. She has been accepted to several direct admit 5 yr programs, all of which are at very expensive private schools. She has also been accepted to WVU and their honor’s college and received a very nice merit package. This has moved WVU up in her potential list, as we have 2 other kids in college. WVU is also 5 yrs, but requires completing 2 yrs of pre-reqs before being admitted to the profession program. Admission into the professional 3 yr portion of OT program is based on a point ranking that takes into account your WVU GPA, volunteer experience, and other soft criteria.
Can anyone speak to how competitive it is to be accepted into the professional portion of the program at WVU? My D has been a strong student in high school with a 4.1 weighted GPA and 30 ACT taking honors and AP classes, but I don’t want to equate high school success with likely college success.
Also, can anyone speak to the reason their NBCOT pass rate was so low in 2011? It has been much higher in the past 3 years, but am concerned about the 2011 rate. Thank you!
