October 2009 SAT Critical Reading

Why would compromise have a negative connotation?

what was the one about kiran and ankita desai?
it was something to do with awards!!!

I also put indiscretion but I think the correct answer is admonish (the archaic usage means warn)

To compromise something means to place it in jeopardy or weaken it. As in: “We struck a rock; the hull’s been compromised.” Which is a terrible example, but you get the picture.

vrush i put something like achieved and eluded i think ?

The question about the Desai’s was achieved/eluded.

polymath is right answer??? NOOOO !!!

goddamn 5-6 wrong if it was synth/crystalize. wats that put me at

what was the “grounded in” question?

Though (insert random singer) was influenced by rock music, he remained grounded in blues tradition.

Can someone explain why the geologist one was “level of detail not interesting” and not “aesthetic view”?

about some blues musician, despite his ventures into different styles, was grounded in blues music.

i cant remember what i put for the geologist one but i know it wasnt that ha

It was the one about the Blues player who’s style is like that of progressive rock.

It was synthesize. Your score depends on the curve, but you’re probably at a high 600 to a low 700 right there.

Again, geologists don’t look at things “aesthetically”; rather, they look at the processes of the Earth to discover the way things work. “Details” is the better answer.

The indian author achieved something her mother eluded… right?

Does anyone remember any other responses for the grounded in question?

Yeah it was eluded because her mother had been the runner up for the award 3 times.

Finalcut: Ambivalent to was one of them.

Awesome. I had the right answers for both that one and the “edifying” one and I changed both to wrong ones.
