October 2009 SAT Critical Reading

What did you guys think?

I thought the vocab was difficult.

It was a brain killer for sure. Anyone know which CR section was the experimental? Was the section that had the passage about the boy who changed his name (Nakhil, or something like that) experimental? Or was the section that had the passage about NAPS experimental? what do you guys think? CR was a pain, I hated it. And out of 400 SAT words I fully memorized over the summer, only THREE popped up. THREE!!!

Also for the passage that was about enjoying our lives (24 hours), was the choice to one of the questions, “elegant” or “valuable” ??

I don’t think you can figure out which one is experimental or not. I’m hoping it’s not the section that had the harder vocabulary with the lexicon and stuff.

The answer was valuable.

Nap experiment, Nakhil, and artist passage were legit
I put valuable.

which word when with lexicon?

wait? im pretty sure i had three writing sections. how could the critical reading be experimental?

Entranced.

some people had 4 reading sections and one of them was an experiment.

For the Earth and space passage…

 1. plot means… “chart” or “conceive?”

Chart because you “chart” geography.

^Chart

My Experimental Section was a Writing section. It was section 4 and had a passage about a violinist.

^I put chart. I hope I got it right.

Damn. I messed up bad on the CR, and the time put me under serious pressure, which caused me to omit A LOT. But that’s better than just guessing cuz your running out of time and getting them wrong … hopefully. But I just despise the CR. It’s time consuming for me, I hate it.

i put chart

I put plot=chart

For the artist one.

Was she puzzled or inquisitive about the coincidences? Or neither?

What the heck was that passage even about? Was she saying general myths don’t acknowledge social influence?

Anyone remember any of the other questions from that passage? I thought that was the hardest of the CR passages. But I only had 3 sections so no experimental

If anything, the vocabulary on this test was much harder than the vocabulary in June.

The artist was inquisitive because she questioned the social backgrounds of the male super-artists. She talks about the expectations that are enforced upon women and the aristocracy.

Can we all start a confirmed answers list?:
Chart?
Entranced?

add to the list or confirm

what was the answer for the last paragraph showing nikhil’s parents as?

They were compliant with his decision.

her tone was “wry”

:( I got that plot one wrong…
@Jdong I put inquisitive…
I lost my concentration in the middle :(
