dubb, it was the 400 year answer.

what do you mean, 400 year?

An answer other than ‘it’s impact on modern technology’?

reposting for answer:

What was the one about the defendant? One of the choices was defiant and reinforced, but I don’t think that’s right. I forgot what I put…

It was defiant and reinforced, the question was something along the lines of “The defendant’s behavior was _____ which only served to _____ the jury’s decision regarding his lack of respect for the law”.

The defendant was defiant at the witness stand, which reinforced the jury’s belief that he had no respect for the law.

oh yeah, for the comparison between aristocracy and women?
everyone seems to think its (E) to say that certain qualities necessary for success are not inherent in specifc groups are people,

and it’s kind of obvious that the inherent qualities refer to genius.

but isn’t it illogical to say that genius doesn’t run in women or aristocracy?

the passage states that the women and aristocracy had to devote time to social functions, and did not have the time that poorer people put into their art.

because of this, i chose (B) something about genius needs to be cultivated (ie time needs to be spent doing it)

does anyone remember what the exact wording of the answer was?

dubbyah, it was impact on modern technology.

i think those of u putting chef tasting something new were not referencing the EXACT lines given in the question

Yes, the passage was talking about his new discovery so if the question asked about the passage in general, chef is right

However, the exact lines it referenced were about how he expected to see the same old cliche pictures (Red spot on jupiter, rings on saturn)

I really thing that art massage answer is satirizing rural life. “sheep…had no sheep”

The answer choice was saying that genius (or whatever) is not specific to women or aristocrats; that does not mean, however, that members of those groups cannot possess it.

can anyone else put their input on the chef tasting herb/singer reviewing one?

mabsjenbu, I agree.
it was DEFINITELY the singer one

insertAlias: i’m pretty sure it was “its ability to transform 3D images into flat images”

it doesn’t mention modern technology as explicitly as it mentions the author’s gratitude for the flattening of 3D images.

For the “he is even better than me” art one, I think I put artistry. Nobody else said that though. But it said Michaelangelo could paint and make all sorts of things, which is artistic skill. Also, it said Giotto’s drawing of the sheep was very realistic and good, which is artistic skill. But it might be the discovery. It’s def. not admiration.

I put jeering at the discovery of Giotto, because jeer means taunt, which goes along with “wry” (dryly amused/humorous), and Giotto had sheep when he was discovered, but others did not, so I didn’t put “mocking conventional biographies” because having sheep isn’t really conventional. So it’s either jeering or mocking, but not satirizing.

I put interesting hypothesis, but i think that’s wrong, and I missed “entranced/lexicon.”

Looks like I got -5 or worse on CR.

The rest of the paragraph suggested otherwise though ;

what modern technologies did the machine help???

im looking at 1 omit, and between 2 and 6 wrong. goddam forums with their shaky answers lol =P

I thought to put that at first but “defiant” means “boldly resisting an opposing force”, which doesn’t necessarily imply a lack of respect. Aren’t all defendants defiant?

"This might sound rather humdrum. Yet another view of Jupiter’s giant red spot? One more close-up of Saturn’s auroral rings? Mars, as we know it so well, still a rusty, windswept, and boulder-strewn surface? Such was the visual chorus I expected to find, a coda of images tantamount to photographic clich

how do you think the curve is going to be? -5 740?

Thank you cs.
