October 2009 SAT Critical Reading

the author’s reaction to the images was chef-herb.

the author’s reaction to the images he anticipated would have been singer-notes.

I put “chef tasting herb” too. Still, I haven’t completely understood yet =.=

i open my backpack. i am anticipating books to be there. my reaction if books were to be there would be akin to the singer’s reaction to notes in a song.

lol what’s the difference between those two? He anticipated certain images but his reaction was different because he was surprised. lol i hope that is right

i’d say it’s definitely a historical speculation. everything was cast back in time.

@cs12345

For singer looking over the same notes - the singer anticipates the same thing in the beginning as he/she has already read the notes before.

For chef tasting a new herb - the chef expects something new. When you know it’s a new herb, you don’t expect it to be the same thing as the rest of the herbs you’ve already tried.

That’s how I reasoned it when I saw the question. So I chose the singer. Now is it right? I don’t know. But that was my reasoning.

I said singer also.

Discovery not admiration.

agreed on singer. agreed on admiration

hey is the passage about nikhil about the opportunities that college opens up?

wait… eclectic was used twice in vocab?

its def 4. redundancy
i really had a hard time with 5 and 7 for some reason
17. is def slapstick

i dont know if you found out the answer already for 5, but i dont think its synthesize, i thought there was a better one that fit, dont remember it tho

message me if you found out answers to those if u can

I am so mad that I put disseminate for the hobble one

Im so embarrassed

and I put admiration, anyone who thinks different are infering, and they say you shouldn’t do that unless the question calls for it

oh I see why people put frugality instead of independence, because it refers to the rents not giving money a few lines before where the questions tells you to look

i agree i think i put something better that fit for synthesize

and also, both eclectic was correct?

DOES anybody remember whether process of achieving his goal question was answer choice B? I remember it was question number 13 and putting B as the answer but i dont exaclty remember what it was. Please answer if any of you remember!

hmm i thought that the question was asking about how the instructor felt when he saw michelangelo’s art - “this boy knows more than me” - wouldn’t that be admiration???

No, the question was like, “the instructor’s quote is most analagous to which feature of Giotto’s story” or something. It COULD be admiration or discovery. I think I put something other than those two, which most likely is wrong.

Since this CR seemed rather difficult (the vocab), what raw score do you think someone needs for a 600,610, or 620?

I thought this CR was actually easier than both May and March.

I wouldn’t expect that generous of a curve.
