Ack thanks…

freakchild- if you had an experimental section, -6 isn’t bad. one section will be taken away so in three sections, you probably will have missed less than 6. im in the same situation lol. and -6 is definitely above 700. im hoping it’s around 740 (blue book scaled scores).

You can check which section was experimental on collegeboard.com …They have it out now.And for the Nikhil I think I put down surprised that it was over.

I wanna add something to the Tyrannical to egalitarian/tyrannical

I believe the question was something like: The country had long ___________ personal freedom, BUT the ___________ government was eventually replaced by true democracy.

If you plug struggle for…tyrannical into the sentence, it doesnt fit. the but conjunction (I’m 90% sure it’s a but) doesn’t make sense with these two words.

I think I put strict government (forgot the first word choice), it fits better with true democracy too.

Tyrannical makes perfect sense. The country was ruled by a tyrannical government, and consequently it had long struggled for personal freedom. Despite long years of seemingly fruitless struggle, tyranny was replaced by democracy.

Besides, it makes no sense to say that an egalitarian government (one that supports equal rights for all) would be replaced by a “true” democracy.

Does anyone remember other choices of the “novelty and diversity” question? I thought too much about the the women artist passage and can’t possibly recall anything about novelty&diversity in the geologist passage…

SC ruins my CR
can’t even imagine that

novelty and diversity question was the one about the atlas of the universe. it was asking why the geologist thought that the atlas was fascinating. the passage had a paragraph long description about the various “novel and diverse” features that the atlas contained

THANK YOU jamesford

lets go 800 cr, lol… i wish…

jamesford, if you see this post, would you care to explain the parents’ thoughts in the first short passage? criticize behavior or explain a reaction and why?

Explain a reaction.

Criticize a behavior is way too harsh of diction as the parents never explicitly took a stance.

what reaction did the parents explain?

they way i saw it (not saying i’m right) is that the parents saw a tendency for kids to go into publishing (a behavior). they also said that getting a degree or a respectable/prestigious job is now considered a bad thing, so they were indirectly criticizing the behavior of their friends’ daughters. i just don’t know lol my brain was off for that question.

You’re confusing passages. The first short passage was about the independent daughter. The answers to that passage was explain a reaction and independence.

The nikhail passage is the one that addressed prestigious jobs.

I also put criticize a behavior, but now that I think about it, I think “explain a reaction” is better.

I can’t believe I got the defiant/reinforced SC wrong. It was so easy, but I thought defiant wasn’t the best word…=(

ok, lots of us are having a hard time remembering “novel and diverse”. it doesn’t seem like it would be that hard a question, either, so i can’t imagine not even have considering it . after all, i would consider an atlas like that to be pretty groundbreaking and novel. DOES ANYONE REMEMBER THE OTHER CHOICES OF THAT ONE AND THE “WRY” ONE?! i live in oakton, VA, so im not international, if that has anything to do wit it.

no i remember the independent daughter passage mentioning something about how getting a degree is not what it used to be…

but you’re probably right anyway, i’ll just wait the 2 weeks haha.

does anybody remember what number “surprised how his work was finished” question was?
It is either 13 or 14(first or second question on the nikhill passage), but i just can’t remember it. Please answer if you do!

I’d like to put my two cents in for the debates on “immediately understandable” vs. “artificially enhanced” and “discovery” vs. “admiration”

I’m not sure if I remember the question exactly, but for the geology one, I know put “immediately understandable.” If someone could post the question, I could give my reasoning on it. But this is what I remember: the passage says that the picture from space was too far away for scientists to study it. By flattening the image, they made it easier to see the geological features, thus the “immediately understandable.” Yes I suppose there was an element of editing the image, but would you really say it was “artificially enhanced”?

Next, I chose “admiration” for the art one. While I see the link between the passages for it to be a “discovery,” I felt that “admiration” had a stronger link. Plus, Michaelangelo (or was it Picasso? the guy who was the art student) was already an art student. I doubt he’d be an art student if his talent for art wasn’t already known. Just because his mentor said “He is better than I” doesn’t mean the mentor just discovered Michaelangelo/Picasso’s talent. I took it more of a “Wow, I knew he was good, but I didn’t know he was THIS good.” Yes, there is a touch of discovery for his talent here, but I feel you guys were reading too much into the passage if you say the link to discovery was stronger than the link to admiration.

So far, I’ve missed one for sure since I didn’t choose hobble. All my other answers seem to match up (luckily!). Critical Reading is my weakest point, and so far I’m doing way better than I expected.

The whole admiration vs. discovery debate is being oversimplified by the admiration proponents.

The question asked for the ANALOGOUS situation. Most of you are looking at the overall passage and not the specific instance.

The analogy can be drawn through the discovery of both artists.

To say that admiration stemmed from both situations would be to disregard textual evidence.

it was definitely admiration, i will claim my win on the 29th lol
