October 2010 ACT Math Thread

who names their kid keisha these days? i got that one wrong, but if the name was bob or something i definitely woulda gotten it right

this may sound stupid to you guys but how many paint cans needed to be used? i put 14 since it went over 2 coats of paint

if it was 1 coat then it would be 7 but since it was 2 i multiplied 7*2 = 14 = my answer

It wasn’t asking for cotanget it was asking for tan

OH MAN IT SAID 2 coats? Damn.

was 6,9,13 the last option choice? and yes markzillyway i put that too
what was the answer to the question bout the graph and the copying machine being broken at 2? and what was the clock one, like how many degrees did the thing turn?

any predictions on curve? i feel the test was hard (but obviously for CC hard means a completely different thing haha)

@ linger, I got 9.4 as well…though I guessed (badly I believe) on Keisha’s weight and I guessed and said the perimeters were equal lol…

Agreed Eagles For Life…people on CC are SAT/ACT God’s.

Yeah what was the 2 copy machine one?

What was the answer to the keisha one?

(x^2+x-2)/(x^2-1) and said which one CANNOT be the x value.

Does anyone remember?

i think i put x=1

It shoulda been -1 if you factor everything out but if you just leave it as is it should be 1 so I put 1…

(1)^2 - 1 = 0…anything divided by 0 does not exist

but if you factor out x-1 from top and bottom, you CAN put 1 as x

I think the problem itself was wrong

The question was similar to: If Keisha’s weight does not deviate more than 5 pounds from p, which one is true…

Can anyone figure it out?

is was abs(w-p) <= 5

So is it def tan^-1(3/25) and not 25/3 which is what I put???

About the weight problem:
The answer was |w-p| <= 5.
I’m 100% sure.

so we’re all positive it was 2 coats for the painting one? Ugh silly mistakes kill me

Sdy that was choice A right??

can someone remember the answer for the graph and the copying machine breaking down?

I put tan^-1(3/25) but if u do it on a calculator doesnt it come out to like a really low number like 6.9? I guess it makes sense though if the side opposite it is really small (3)

It indeed was 2 coats.
