what would -16 be?
raw score of 51

what would -5 and -6 be? anyone? insecure

i thought the whole point of the homer vs. thyclides and magna carta vs. present day comparison was to say, “hey, this guy believed in something that was SO long ago…he didn’t actually have any solid evidence”

why else would he explicitly reference the HUGE time gaps?

@iforgeteasily agree completely…well, except for the anecdote…I put that it offered insight into character

Man, it probably did NOT happen. Why else would the passage talk about Magna Carta, vague sources, and stuff like that? The whole passage was like “man, this probably didn’t occur, but hopefully it did”

I actually had all the same answers are jsungohs, I hope we are right!

What would -5 and 2 omitted be considering the curve?

-passage suggest there was disagreement over her work OR her work was not viwed objectively
(I think it is disagreement over her work. This is very clear proof of this, which is that there were critics who harshly criticized her. Think about it, how you would even view someone’s work objectively? )

^ I put disagreement, but I thought all the answers were bad. It specifically said that many people criticized her work, but besides the author herself, there is no direct mention of an opposing side. I eliminated objective, though, because objectivity has nothing to do with this passage, so was left with disagreement. Didn’t really think of it overlong.

Man, it probably did NOT happen. Why else would the passage talk about Magna Carta, vague sources, and stuff like that? The whole passage was like “man, this probably didn’t occur, but hopefully it did”

EDIT: I agree with the above.

-passage suggest there was disagreement over her work OR her work was not viwed objectively
(I’m not sure about this one. I was stuck on this one, and had trouble. I am not sure if the passage was really “suggesting” that there was a disagreement over her work, since only a paragraph describes this issue. If i remember this question correctly, it was a general overview, not just about one paragraph, thus I feel that you chose the “trap answer” that was too direct. BUT I might be wrong, so I won’t strongly support my side either xD )

-the purpose of the personal anecdote in lines __ was to introduce something OR offer insight into her character OR -reflect the nature of writing
(Ohhhh. I remember now. You’re correct. When you stated that, I remember choosing that, since the author explains afterwards his point etc.
I agree on you on this one)

hey … just wondering on the passage about radio.
i know you guys all agreed on the answer “it’s harming the function of the American political system”
but wasn’t there an answer choice about even independent journalists might have biased opinion or something??

is that completely wrong??

for fizz, i thought it said she wanted to “bring it back” which would imply that the answer was something about that, i cant remember the exact choice

Does ANYONE know the EXACT EXACT EXACT wording of the “probably did/not” happen question???
the wording of the QUESTION itself! not the answers!

■■■■ i failed this test so bad lol
i’m panicking
this was my last chance

@jollybjolly

I disagree. The whole rest of the passage uses “you” instead of “I”, indicating it is not a self-reflection. Summarized, the author is talking about how writing clarifies ones opinions. The passage is very focused on this topic; indirectly, you can get some inferences about the author’s character, but it is not the literal and best answer.

@jollybjolly
While it MAY give insights into the author’s character, its NOT the main purpose of the anecdote!! “But it got at something” seems to me an obvious transition from the introductory anecdote into the main discussion of the nature of writing.

@jollybjolly

I am backing up with iforgeteasily on this one. I was going to choose that, but if you continue reading on the passage, you realize that the purpose of that paragraph was to back up the writer’s statements ahead of the passage

what were all the options for that question about Keile?

yes, as jr5570 asked, does someone have exact wording of probably / probably not answer choices and the question itself? Much of the ambiguities may be coming, not from differing understanding of the passage, but differing understanding of the question!

anyone? what would a raw score of 51 be

what writing section was experimental
