October 2010 CR SAT Thread

“homer works most reliable”

What was the question for this answer?

Yeah, I agree undesirable was correct

plausible is not probable.
It could have happened, but from the lack of evidence and no documentary sources, the war probably did not happen
sorry idk what im saying
i suck at critical reading

T.T
-senior in despair-

@ nooblet

the elephant/thriving question was the first SC question on one of the sections. It said they thrive even though the terrain was ____ (forgot the second word in the answer)

ethical issue because humans probably had a part in it. thats a question.

^I agree. I also got that

0-2 wrong and 2 omitted please someone what’s the score?!?

Nooblet. 1 i cannot comment on- it could be either inevitable or undesirable but I feel like he was saying that those things were inevitable road bumps and obstacles towards an overall better thing at the end. Second is right. Third unfortunately is wrong, if you read the last sentence that is very, very clear.

was the story with the trojan horse in the experimental section ?? i dont remember that one…

Nope, the passage with the trojan horse was not in the experimental section.
I found the CR as a whole IMPOSSIBLE.

So does anyone full remember the elephant one b/c i cant seem to remember the question or the choices.

No, the Trojan War was not experimental. It was the second short passage in the section about the jump rope.

By the way, what was the sentence completion about the nomads? I’m too lazy going back to the list, but I remember have a question about the consolidated answer, since it didn’t seem that familiar to me (then again, I did that one quickly and never looked back, so I might just not remember it.)

@quomodo: haha, i’m sure i’ll get that a lot :stuck_out_tongue:
anyway,
“Because only living species are good targets for rewilding. These species are used to rewild the North American ecosystem which has lost biodiversity/had a lot of extinct animals.”
does the passage ever explicitly mention that only endangered, not yet extinct, species should be rewilded? i was under the assumption that you can rewild both - extinct species in hopes of restoring ecological function to the ecosystem as well.
http://www.advancedconservation.org/library/donlan_etal_2006.pdf</a>
if you search “mammoth” and view the first result, the author considers a proxy for an already extinct species. (i know this wasn’t in the actual passage, but it supports the main idea nonetheless)

what exactly was the question on this?
The default scenario will surely include ever more landscapes dominated by pests and weeds, the global extinction of more large vertebrates, and a continuing struggle to slow the loss of biodiversity.
If I remeber the question correctly… i dont think the answer was undesirable.
Although the default senario is undesirable, there is no indication that the author thinks. He just seems to introduce these possible consequences in matter of fact way…
and the word ‘surely’ further helps us decide that its inevitably not undesirably…
