October 2011 SAT General Discussion

syndekit - 740 CR, 750 M, 790 W

bear111: that means you lost 4 total points. You could have omitted 4, gotten 3 wrong, 2 wrong and 2 omit, or 1 wrong and 3 omits.

cylinder surface area = 500
it was 8pi*20 = 503

At least -6 math (2 grid-in)
Probably -4 CR
Idk about writing, but -5 MC, and 8 essay (my essay was either really good or really bad, I guess it depends on the grader).

why is it not “contrary of” for the W improving sentences. Why is it “unlike those?”

Does anyone remember the collaborate/corroborate question???

“contrary to those” would have needed an additional “of” or something
the correct answer is “unlike those of…”
it fits much better

Shaggy007
Math - 680
CR - 730
W - 690

Bordunks, I wrote Corroborate, as Collab doesn’t make sense.

OMG do u guys think i should cancel my score? when i took the released may 06 I got 3 questions wrong in CR section…SHOULD I cancel it??? I blew up the whole Walden short passage and got two extra questions wrong…and there is plenty of possibility of finding out that i made such a miserable mistakes!!!DANG!!!

@borunks: yea it was an error because it said collaborate instead of corroborate. Also, was the fish “like a human” on the W no error or was “like a human” an error

i think the human/fish one was NO ERROR

Thanks, JD!
I really hope I get that score…I was aiming for a 2100.

For the essay, I’m pretty sure length > quality-that is if the essay is readable. If you wrote anything near two pages, your score should be at least a 10.

The cylinder was empty at the top and bottom. So you just get the circumference to be pi times 8. Then you just multiply that by the height which is 20. Your answer is around 500.

Wait guys, I don’t even remember the question about collaborate/corroborate. What was the QUESTION?

lol @ passive

Which were the no error ones?

and how many As did you get in section 10?

for the skateboarding one, which was the correct sentence to remove? #9 said that all three sports had relatively high risks of injury and I thought that one should stay so I put #14, which was the first sentence in the last paragraph i believe.

my goal for this test was to get a 12 on the essay…
it’s nearly impossible!

i always get 11’s
