D got 92 Verbal, 99 Math, and 96 Reading, with 98 Overall for females. She did not prepare for it and will not retake it a second time, although already paid. Decided to use that time for admission essays. Good luck to all.

@mexusa: Good call, IMO. Don’t chase some semi-arbitrary threshold when you’re already well in the ballpark for even the most selective schools! I wish more applicants (and their parents) thought this way…

My one regret is that I put so much emphasis on having my kid try to improve her SSAT scores. She prepped with the books and worked with a tutor, and her scores actually went down (she took it a total of three times). She had great grades, but a lot of anxiety around the test… because, I think, she felt that it would determine which schools she would be admitted to. In the end it caused us both a lot of stress… And in the end, it didn’t matter. She was accepted to the school she really loved, with the low original scores.

D took the test in October and scored well enough to put her into a good position at the schools she is applying to, not off the charts, but her SSAT will not be the reason she is not accepted so we decided to to focus on other areas and she is just happy to be done with it…
