How are you guys studying for this ACT
Just got 32, aiming for a 34-35
Does anyone have any advice to increase my score a couple points in a month? I’m a senior and really need to do well on this ACT. I currently have a 29
How are you guys preparing for the new essay?
@TheFutureDoc16 that’s the book I am using right now, just wondering how long you took to prepare for the act from that book? 22 to 30 is a big jump and I also got a 22 the first time. However I am using an older version of the book from 2012. Please let me know about your experience with it and how realistic the practice tests are in this book? Because I took one from Kaplan that I think was not very realistic. Have you taken any from the official big red book? Is it worth me getting that one too?
@aly901 I’ve been studying for the ACT for about 10 months because I was planning on taking it earlier this year, but that didn’t work out. On the plus side I’ve got a lot of practice in I also got the 1,296 Practice Questions for the ACT book from Princeton Review. I think that the practice tests in PR are realistic because I printed out a free practice test from ACT and the questions seem really similar. If you want a really rigorous test book, I recommend Barron’s, they have really hard practice tests.
@TheFutureDoc16 thanks for replying I might look into that as well as the big red book but maybe at the library because I’m not sure if it’s worth me spending the money to get it shipped from Amazon when I’m taking it so soon. Do you have tips or anything specific you did to get from a 22 to a 30? That’s literally “goals” lol
@aly901 The thing that has helped me the most is going over every question I missed on the practice tests and seeing what I did wrong. If I can think of anything else I’ll let you know. Good luck on the test
My goal is denfinitly a 30-31 on this ACT. I just got my September ACT scores back and I got a 29…just One sub score point away from a 30 so I’m slowly but surly reaching my goal! This will be my last ACT ever haha.
got my September scores back…I went from a 26 in April to a 30 in Sept.
Do you guys all think that the ACT is only going to get harder from now on? I took the Sept ACT and I thought it was okay, except for the math.
Hello.
Is it true that FEB test date is used ONLY by religious minorities ? Because It seems like a lot of people taking it on that date every year but official website states that you need to be “qualified” for it.Can anybody clear up it for me ?
Got a 28C on september. just trying to break 30 on this one.
@Sosa300 anyone can take the Feb 2016 ACT. The test is not offered in NY that day.
But NYers can take it in NJ or CT
Does that help?
@hi456378 I’m in the exact same boat as you. I got a 29.25 and my English score went down 4 points so I should be able to get a 31 or 32 on this ACT
@HereToHelpYou Yes,that helps.Thank you very much
This will be my LAST ACT! Really aiming for a 32-33.
Does anyone know if it costs extra to update my ACT scores after I have already applied to college?
Also, which score do you suggest I submit?:
June score
C: 31 E: 35 M: 27 R: 36 S: 27
or September score
C: 31 E: 35 M: 27 R: 34 S: 29
You already have a super score of 32
@hpcool11 Barron’s Perfect 36 helped me a lot because it gave extra advice and didn’t rehash things we learned in like sixth grade. Timing is everything with the ACT. If you gauge your time right, you will be able to finish with extra time to check over your sections (especially useful in math). The 1st 30 question in math are usually no work problems and shouldn’t take you long. For reading, skim the passage, read the questions and then find the specific sentence or para the question is referring to and read that. You should be able to figure out the answer based on that. Science: literally don’t read the whole science passage. Just read the last sentence of the para before the graph and the graph. Most of your questions will be from there. It may seem weird, not reading the whole passage for reading and science but I used those techniques and got perfect scores on both sections.
@sarajessica if I were you, as a science major, I would go with the Sept. score just because the science score doesn’t seem too bad even though your reading will be lower. If you are planning to go into English or social studies go with the June one.
