October 6 SAT CR passages

what was the 2nd communication question? I don't seem to remember it...

bobob- yes it was that one.. the woman pronouncing 'evening' with three syllables... everything else you agree with?

yes everything else i agree with

I HATE THAT WOMAN
she cost me a point

dna- i think it was the second to the last question or something? ...

i think it gave the line numbers for the part where the scientists get together and talke about stuff at conferences/. at the end.. and it asked which of the following describes teh situation?? sorry my memory is failing me...

[quote]
1. facetious exclaim to indignant
2. passage2 considers passage 1 author as na

oh for the conferences question i put they engage in personal interactions

bobob- haha i hate that woman also..

do you remember the 2nd communication question?

What was the sardonic question about I don't remember putting that down..

oh yeah that's what i put bobob!!! i remembered the the wording wrongly.. haha

for the shipwreck one,
1. power of sea
2. seamen were oblivious to the natural world surrounding them
3. ~, but determined to persevere.
4. waves- one difficulty after another
5. balcony- would have been aesthetically pleasing
6. lies- resides

Yay, me too!

who else here hated the historian sections?!

the guy that spent all his money was definitely IMPROVIDENT.

for the vocab about the species, was the answer scourges(?)...innocuous?

also, can i get an explanation for the one about the main theme of the passage for the sailor one? which one was it: the power of the sea or the fear of the men?
i thought that it was the fear of the men because the passage both starts and ends with the fear of the sailors. i thought that the power of the sea aided in describing the fear of the men and not vice versa.

which reading was the experimental?

i thought the pyschic passage answers were definitely charlatan and sardonic.

personally, i thought the cr was ridiculously hard compared to the ridiculously easy math and writing section.

hope everybody did really well! :)

luckycoin, everything same with me

are you good at cr??? i hope you are because if so this is a good sign

luckycoin, everything same

i usually get around 750.. day right before the SATs i took a real practice test from the preparation booklet and got 4 wrong...

bobob, what do you usually get on practice tests?

2 - i put "seem to be paralyzed by the inevitability of their doom" or something. i was trying to decide between that and oblivious to the world around them, but that answer didn't seem to incorporate their fixation on the sea as much as the other choice.

YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

so far... i'm only certain i got the evening double meaning one wrong.

can anyone compile a list of answers?

the reason i didn't put inevitibility of doom was because i thought the doom was letting up and it never erally said anything about any more doom

spiffy... i was also confused for that one.. but i thought the wording of the 'inevitability of their doom' was somewhat extreme... so i chose oblivious...

was it historian's reliability or relevance of the past to the present?
some1 help me out please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

author 1 never talks about historians really.

I HATED THOSE PASSAGES!!! only one i liked was the one about the candy factory.

for the african american picture passage,

get the meaning of life part through her heritage

sustaining tradition?

first paragraph attitude towards picture taking? resentment at the invasion.

chart-chronicle

obsession- to show that her family had been somewhat extreme?

photo album, wall-the effect of always displaying ~~~ don’t remember exactly

which situation most similar- diary
not sure of these answers...
